Giants at the Hi Art Museum in Atlanta

This past weekend I got a chance to check out Giants exhibit at the hi art museum in Atlanta. This tied with the Kaws exhibit as my favorite showcase Ive seen so far at the Hi. Utilizing the hi’s monthly free pass, me and my girlfriend were able to check out the exhibit twice, which was much needed since the exhibit showcased so many beautiful and detailed pieces of art. The was my first time going to an art show and taking time to actually read the story and inspiration behind each piece. I realized this added greatly to the experience of interpreting the art. The Giants exhibit showcased the personal art collection of musicians Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys. All of the art displayed had a consistent theme of afrocentrism, and explored a diverse array of artistic styles encompassing many cultures under the African diaspora umbrella. Below, are some of my favorite pieces. The inspiration I drew from seeing this designs inspired me to begin to schedule, observe and document different mediums showcasing of art. I hope to use this inspiration to draw inspiration for my own artistic journey through technology and music. The first piece below in the slide show is my favorite.
